BASIC TRUTHS
by The Searcher ini appreciate that i'm stating the obvious to most on here, but i thought it might cause some lurkers to take a step back, and calmly consider these points.. 1. a revised nwt was necessary, due to the original nwt being deficient.
if it was the rolls-royce of translations, then why change it?
forget the gb's 'given' reason for doing so, and examine the blatant changes in many scriptures.

While reviewing the July 15 watchtower, I searched and found copies of the magazines they referenced in the "endnotes." The watchtower of February 15, 1994 is coincidentally titled, "Jehovah's Witnesses - A Cult or Ministers of God?" (Hahahaha)
The article on page 16 is called, "Tell us, when will these things be?" What a coincidence. It is full of admissions of errors, and the wording is quite similar to the recent mag. What was thought... What adjusted understanding... Adjusted view... What light is shed...
In the article on page 8, "What will be the sign of your presence?" They dissect and examine the Greek word "to'te" and twist your mind into unnatural positions, so you will once again be so confused that you finally just agree to agree With what it says it means.
The new bible, with all its commentary added, is going to be proven to be a mistake for the society. This publishing company just can't stop themselves from turning their opinions into facts and spiritual truths they have to retract. They are so drunk with power, it is amazing the blatant ways they reveal the truth about themselves. The light sure is bright, when it is pointed at the society itself.

Who is going to heaven? What does the new app say about this?
by Faithful Witness ini just finished reading the letter at www.annointedjw.org, in which they respond to the new bible and its commentary.
interesting opening paragraph: .
"while we can appreciate the decision to revise some of the language to conform to a more modern understanding, we are quite at a loss as to why you would interject so much commentary of your own into such a sacred writing.

I just finished reading the letter at www.annointedjw.org, in which they respond to the new bible and its commentary. Interesting opening paragraph:
" While we can appreciate the decision to revise some of the language to conform to a more modern understanding, we are quite at a loss as to why you would interject so much commentary of your own into such a sacred writing. We also note that you fail to indicate on the cover that your personal commentaries are included. The additions are what the Apostle Paul described as matters “which end up in nothing, but which furnish questions for research rather than a dispensing of anything by God in connection with faith.” ( 1 Timothy 1:3-4 ) It would have been wiser, and far more discreet, to have combined all your commentaries into a separate publication rather than pollute the sacred writings."
Complete letter can be viewed here: https://anointedjw.org/uploads/L-WBTS_100913.pdf
Has anyone found anything that explains the earthly hope or the "two-hope" doctrine in the new bible or the blessed JW library app? I'm curious. Maybe they are planing to reveal new light on this issue. Since they are introducing rapture for some now, maybe they will soon be rolling out heavenly hope for all. I encourage anyone interested to read this letter. They make some good points about the commentary, if the claims in the letter are true.
" you devote practically all of your pages to Jewish history and obscure trivia that Paul said was obsolete. ( Hebrews 8:13 )"
"You give more attention to Paul’s ministry than to Jesus’ ministry. And what is printed about Jesus is limited to the final few days of his earthly life and identifies him as merely “the offspring who is the Heir to David’s throne!” This is most reprehensible! It appears that your revised Bible is just another way to distract from the plain and open teachings and dishonor Christ Jesus. We sincerely hope that our brothers are not misled by the shiny appearance of your revised Bible."
"Perhaps there is yet hope for our organization. If the Catholic Church can make changes in doctrines that they have held onto for centuries, surely you men can make the needed changes in doctrines that have only been taught for less than 80 years."
I'm not sure of the validity of this website, but I thought the comments made in this letter were very interesting. Definitely worth reading... And it does raise some questions.

My mother came for a visit
by Faithful Witness inshe has not visited us in over a year, except with my dad.

This is all excellent advice. I'm just thrilled that she actually came over. I will find a way to keep my fact and opinions to myself on her next visit.
Thank you so much.
@OTWO: I ordered that book. It looks like it definitely applies to me in many parts of my life. Thanks for the recommendation.
now I will let her stomach settle, to use steve's analogy. I am a total hog of limelight, when someone is willing to listen to me.
I have cried so many hours over this, and now feeling sort of silly... but I think the keen and wise advice advice I got here, could have been what helped me find the proper way to get to this point. I also know it can turn right back around and bite me again.
all I can say now, is thanks! I also enjoy the book recommendations. I'm building a library of interesting books, and love learning so much about people.

What color is your bible?

I will not be downloading the app, as I do not trust the source. My real bible is a fancy one with silver edges and my name in silver. I have NWT in hardcover and deluxe black. My mom said she would get me a new grey one, but I'm not holding my breath.
So by now, most active JW's have had their first meeting after THE special meeting... Any observations from the mid-week meeting?
How are people responding to the bible, and more importantly, is it causing division in your congregation? I'm curious.

She has not visited us in over a year, except with my dad. We have not had a chance to talk one on one in a very long time. She is an actice JW. I am an apostate, never baptized. She continues to treat me like we have a normal relationship. We usually don't discuss JW things.
Lately, we have been going back and forth a little bit... Ok, more than a little bit. I've leaked info to her, and she today accused me of "attacking the witnesses." That was as hard has she got with me, and it was merely a side comment. We actually had a good discussion, and I'm pretty sure I saw her mind turn on a couple of times. It was a relief.
She is planning to come back in two weeks, and sleep over for two nights! Yay! This is the best news so far.
Things she allowed me to discuss with her: Candace Conti case, new bible (she is going to see if she can get me a copy... Her idea), disfellowship policies and clarifying what she thinks it means for whom. She actually made the statement that maybe she should not have gone ahead with the baptism. I said, "you're trapped now." She agreed, but then said she could leave if she wanted to, to which I replied, "not if you ever want to see S & I again (grandkids)."
I feel our visit went very well, as she acted normal and wanted to discuss some of these things. As she was leaving, she said she would rather stay here, than go to her meeting tonight. I take this as good news. She now has an hour to drive home, thinking of all the things we talked about.
Even though she freaked me out with her cultist email right after the special meeting, I still feel like I have a relationship with her. This is good Enough for now. Mending the situation that divides our family, may never happen, since one member will not budge. She gave me some relief, telling me I had done all I could to accommodate. Sadly, it looks like we move forward as an incomplete unit, unless my sister wakes up.
Anyway, just just an update... I'm sure cult mom will be rearing her head again, but I am encouraged that we were able to connect.

Tea Party with a Cultist
by jgnat infirst off, americans, i'm not talking the boston tea party, here.. .
think more along the lines of the mad hatter's tea party.. .
i was imagining the different approach we take talking our loved-ones, depending on whether they are in their cult mode or natural mode.
-
Faithful Witness
It does, in my opinion. it is hard to imagine a visit with someone you've known and loved your whole life, to go like this...
But it does help to be reminded that she is not the same person anymore. I appreciate the insight, even though it will be very difficult to act outside my natural self, with the one who raised me to be this way.

Thank you for this reminder, jgnat. My intellectual mind understands the concept. It will be interesting to see who shows up at our tea party tomorrow.
Do we expect or coach our children to model these same behaviors?

A House Divided Against Itself Falls-Luke 11:17
by Stand for Pure Worship inthat text reminds me of one of a handful of problems peculiar to the ex-jw community.
second only to the wild beast's internal divisions, is the divided makeup of the ex-jw populace.
you know the one thing that indicates jehovah's blessing upon the worldwide association of kingdom proclaimers, is not only the continued success of the preaching work, but along with it the unity and love amongst the brothers and sisters.
